abhyasa yoga - Level I Yvette Ladd
"Abhyasa" is a Sanskrit word meaning "to practice; to have an attitude of persistent effort to attain and maintain a state of stable tranquility." In this class we focus on the fundamental practice of yoga to develop core strength and flexibility in the body, to establish mental focus and discipline and to integrate pranayama (breathing techniques) and witness consciousness to increase conscious awareness, connection and healing of the nervous system.

Continuation of Abhyasa Level I, incorporating more advanced practice of the Level II posture sequence as well as deeper levels of conscious awareness and development. Previous Level I experience required or approval of instructor.

off-the-mat

sacred circle
Prepare yourself to heal, and to live in love.
How do the awarenesses and the tools we use on the yoga mat translate off the yoga mat? Take your practice a deeper level by recognizing and releasing inner resistance and tension that no longer serves you. Dissolve misconceptions and pre-conceived notions about your self and empower your self to take personal responsibility for your life and all that you feel. As we enter the Sacred Circle we enter a circle of compassionate awareness and confidentiality. We learn how to feel without distraction, to listen deeply to ourselves and each other, and perhaps most importantly we realize we are never alone, regardless of how isolated we may believe ourselves to be. Facilitated by Christina Alexa Fortier, Founder of The Practice Room.
